Louis David Riel better knew as Louis Riel was a Canadian politician, a founder of the province of Manitoba. Also, he was a political leader of the Métis people of the Canadian Prairies.
Early Life (Childhood)He was born to Louis Riel, Sr. and Julie Lagimodière.He was the eldest of his eleven siblings. He took primary education from Roman Catholic priests at St. Boniface and scholars of language science and philosophy.
Interesting FactsIn 1869, the Métis being revolted against the transfer of their territories from the Hudson's Bay Company to the Dominion of Canada, and Louis Riel was the leader of the group. Later in 1884, Riel was indulged in another armed uprising, but this was quickly crushed by the military of the Canadian government, and Riel surrendered. He found guilty of treason and hanged on November 16, 1885, in Regina, Canada.
