Who is Ennio Morricone

Ennio Morricone ( born November 10, 1928) is an Italian composer, conductor,orchestrator and former trumpet player. He has written music for more than 500 motion pictures, television series and contemporary classical works.

Early Life (Childhood)

Morricone was born in Rome, Kingdom of Italy. He was the son of of Libera and his father Mario was a musician. He wrote his first compositions at the age of six years and was frequently encouraged to develop his natural talents.

Interesting Facts

Morricone was offered a villa by a studio but rather refuses to move to Hollywood. He was also the member of the jury at the Venice Film Festival in 1992.

Personal Life

Morricone and Maria Travia married in 13th October 1956. They are happily living till date. They have four children named Marco, Alessandra, Andrea Morricone and Giovanni Morricone.


He was nominated in various prestigious awards and was also honored with Academy Awards, USA, Golden Globes, USA, BAFTA Awards and 7 d'Or Night.


It is rumored that he was deprived of a possible Academy Award. The U.S. distributor of Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America (1984) failed to file the paperwork so that the score could be considered for nomination.
