Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, also known as Maija Tailfeathers ,is an emerging filmmaker, writer and actor. She is a black foot from Kainai First Naton as well as Sami from northern Norway.

Early Life (Childhood)

Tailfeathers has her bachelors degree from University of British Columbia in First Nations Studies and minor in Women's and Gender Studies. She is also a former student of Vancouver Film School’s Acting Program.

She was arrested for participating in the peaceful blockade at the entrance of a drilling site in the blood Reserve in Alberta.

Tailfeathers is a black foot from Kainai First Naton as well as Sami from northern Norway. Her mother is from the Blood Reserve in Alberta, Canada and her father is Sami, from Northern Norway.

She was awarded with the 2014 Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award for her work as an emerging filmmaker. She also won the Grand Jury Prize for best documentary short at the Seattle International Film Festival.
