Who is Chrissie Hynde

Christine Ellen "Chrissie" Hynde (born September 7, 1951) is an American musician, singer and songwriter. She is popular in the world as the lead singer of the rock band The Pretenders.

Early Life (Childhood)

Hynde was born in Akron, Ohio, United States of Aerica. She was the daughter of a part-time secretary and a Yellow Pages manager. She was enrolled at Kent State University's Art School for three years.

Interesting Facts

She is well known for using Fender Telecaster guitar and is popular for having a heavy black eyeliner. She is an active member of PETA and helped set up its headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia.

Personal Life

Hydne is married twice. She first married Jim Kerr on 5 May 1984. They together have one children and they divorced in 1990. She then married Lucho Brieva on 10 July 1997. She also has one child but this relation also dissolved in 2003.


Hynde was voted 7th on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock N Roll and 89th on VH1's 100 Sexiest Artists.


Hynde also has one daughter with her now ex-boyfriend, Ray Davies. She apologized for her accidental role in blowing up a McDonald's.
