Barbara Bush was the first lady since 1989 to 1993 being the late wife of 41st President of the United States, George H.W Bush. She was the mother of 43rd President George W. Bush. She died at the age of 92 on April 17, 2018.

Early Life (Childhood)

Born in Manhattan to Pauline and Marvin Pierce, Barabara was raised up with her three siblings Martha, James, and Scott. She went to Rye Country Day School and Ashley Hall in Charleston, South Carolina. She was in engaged in athletic games like swimming, tennis, and bike riding in her childhood days. She earned the honorary degrees from the Universities such as Smith College, Saint Louis University and Baylor University in DHL.

With her involvement in different kind of political works, charity, and organization she earned a whopping amount with an estimated net worth of $ 25 million. She served as the second lady from beginning from 1981 to 1989. Her health began to deteriorate from 2008 when she was hospitalized because of abdominal pains and underwent surgery. In 2009, she went through aortic valve replacement surgery while soon after that got hospitalized for pneumonia. She then suffered from the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The condition led her health to worsen continuously, and she took her last breath in her Houston home at the age of 92 on 17 April 2018.

Personal Life

She was married to her husband George H.W. Bush on January 6, 1945. The former duo first met at a dance when Barbara was on Christmas vacation. They dated for 18 months and got engaged eventually. They had six children, George, Pauline Robinson, Jeb, Neil Marvin, and Dorothy. Bush's second child Pauline faced an unnatural death due to leukemia. She had 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren altogether. Her eldest son George W. Bush became the 43rd President of the United States and her third son Jeb Bush, the 43rd Governor of Florida. She involved in charity business and donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Bush–Clinton Katrina Fund.

She received the award for Greatest Public Service Benefiting the Disadvantage by Jefferson Awards in 1995 followed by The Miss America Woman of Achievement Award for her work with Literacy programs in 1997.
