Who is Yara Shahidi

American actress, model, and activist, Yara Shahidi is well-known for starring as Zoey Johnson on the sitcom Black-ish (2014–present) and its spin-off series Grown-ish (2018–present). Her best performances of acting were also seen on Salt (2010), Alex Cross (2012), and, Black-ish (2014).

Early Life (Childhood)

Grew up with the affinity of acting, she started appearing in commercials of several branded companies which include McDonald's, Ralph Lauren, Target, GapKids, Disney, Guess Kids and The Children's Place. She made her cinematic debut in 2009, starring opposite to Eddie Murphy in Paramount Pictures Imagine That. For her debut movie, she received the nominations of Young Artist Award in the best feature film category.

Shahidi is not only known as an actor but also an activist. She founded eighteenx18 and Yara’s Club, which provides online mentorship in hopes to end poverty through education.She had been noticed by former first lady Michelle Obama, who wrote her a letter of recommendation to Harvard University. Her parents are Keri Salter Shahidi and Afshin Shahid, a photographer. She is the older sister of child actor and model, Sayeed Shahidi, and has a younger brother, Ehsan. She is continuously learning how to speak, write, and read Persian.
