Who is Ray McKinnon

American actor who is best known for his role as Reverend Smith in the HBO series Deadwood and for his role as Lincoln Potter in the fourth season of the critically acclaimed FX show Sons of Anarchy.

Early Life (Childhood)

Born in Adel, Georgia, he later settled in Little Rock, Arkansas. Before beginning his screen acting career, he studied theater at Valdosta State University in Georgia. McKinnon made his screen acting debut with a small role in the film Driving Miss Daisy in 1989.

Interesting Facts

McKinnon wrote, produced, directed and played Snake in the critically acclaimed 2004 film Chrystal starring Blount and Billy Bob Thornton. He created the television series Rectify, the first original series from SundanceTV.

Personal Life

He was married to actress and producer Lisa Blount from 1998 until her death on October 25, 2010. McKinnon currently lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, the hometown of Blount.


McKinnon won the Academy Award along with his wife in the category Live Action Short Film in 2001 for The Accountant.
