Ann Reinking was born in Seattle, Washington to Frances and Walter Reinking while raised in the suburb of Bellevue. She learned ballet dancing from Russes dancers Marian and Illaria Ladre.

Ann Reinking began her career at the tender age of twelve featuring in a production of Giselle. She also appeared as a chorus girl in productions of Pippin, Coco and Wild and Wonderful. Since 1994, she is the wife of the sportswriter Peter Talbert, and is stepmother to Leslie, Christie, Herbert, and Charlie.
